-vim-31686yWatched the trailer, there’s what I suppose is an ubuntu clip. But mostly apple it seems.

dfox428276yHaha, nope. And actually, if you watch the end credits and read some interviews by the crew, they used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the entire movie (and other Adobe software from my understanding), and even did some cross promotion with Adobe. (I found this out after I saw the movie). It’s significant because the movie has received very high praise for the editing.
Also from a practical standpoint, I don’t see how the style would have worked on any other platform. They needed cross-device continuity and recognizability and whether you like Apple or not, they are the only product line in the world that offers that I think for a movie like it. -
@bugreport "Searching"
what amazed me was the time frame of the plot. I felt like the story took place within a half year, but actually it's just a week. -
donuts238486y@dfox yes but they're using XP... Should at least use Vista or upgraded to Win7? Who keeps an XP PC lying around for 10 years or so? It probably wouldn't even boot.

donuts238486y@billgates and the address book app they opened reminded me of Windows 3.1 or at least 95...

dfox428276y@billgates I actually had this convo with one of my co-workers. I think people underestimate how well XP stood the test of time. Sadly, there are still big companies using it in workstations and terminals in various business locations. I’ve seen them personally at a movie theater near me on the computers as late as about a year ago. So I don’t think a machine with XP on it existing/booting up is out of the question at all.
Also, as for why it was never upgraded, I don’t want to write here because it’s a spoiler, but I think it has to do with what happened in the opening montage and maybe the fact they no longer wanted to use that computer.
Lastly, this is kind of cool, but from my understanding based on something one of the writers said in an interview, there was a scene with Windows Vista, but it didn’t make the cut due to the running length of the movie.
Hey dfox.. that movie you recommended Searching sorta feels like a Mac OS promo. lots of close up shots of Face Time, iMessage and Safari...
And well they compared it with shots from Windows XP...
Is this supposed to be a subliminal message paid for by Apple?
