elementaryOS there's your problem probably - some sort of style breaking, googled if anybody else has that issue on 5.0?
-
@lxmcf tried to check if the issue is still happening inside incognito? Chrome or Firefox? what do you mean by lock up, freeze?
-
lxmcf199576y@JoshBent happens in all browsers and it will go full screen but the screen will update the visuals super slowly untill I close the window and reopen it.
Think it might just be something I deal with -
bahua128036yIt sounds like elementary, or more likely your WM/DE, is doing something wacky. Have you tried running YouTube in fullscreen in a different graphical environment?
-
lxmcf199576y@StanTheMan oh thank god I'm not alone here. For once Ubuntu forums and stack overflow aren't helpful
-
KiDoDa1256yIf you mean a hard lock, and have nvidia videocard, its probably a driver issue.
(happened to me) -
lxmcf199576y@KiDoDa I assumed so but tried the default driver (nouveau) and proprietary but happens on both...
-
Enable 3D acceleration in bios setting, and when you're using Nvidia driver, make sure you completely disable nouveau in grub
-
I have no issues on MacBook/Mint with Intel graphics, no issues on Mint desktop with GTX960 + proprietary drivers either.
-
lxmcf199576y@bittersweet it must be something with elementary then, because I had no issues on arch, Ubuntu and fedora so feck
Look... Linux... I fucking love you and I especially love elementary OS but please... Why is it so fucking difficult to be able to play a youtube video in fullscreen or have a browser go fullscreen without the window locking up -.-
(Feel free to chip any advice, it's super annoying because it works perfectly on my primary monitor but not any other)
