"Close all the browser tabs" is the new "reboot the machine".

    I feel with u, it‘s amazing how browsers like firefox n chrome even without plugins use up precious ram ...
    Brave can open the same tabs faster and uses a lot les ram

    @mojo2012 Firefox less so than Chrome but I suppose it depends on configuration a lot.

    @BadFox for me lately, I haven't noticed a lot of memory usage benefit from Firefox over Chrome. I use both, and both end up consuming lots of ram over time. "On my machine", anyway. ;)

    How did you get 24GB RAM? 3 8GB sticks?

    @PrivateGER I have 6, 4gb DDR3s running on it.

    @duckWit That's the weirdest RAM setup I have ever heard of, wow.
    I guess it's rather fast because of that.

    @PrivateGER it's an older motherboard that supports quad channel memory. Presently there are 2 memory slots that are unused. I have the motherboard configured to run with just 6 slots. I always meant to buy the additional 2 but never truly needed it.

    Firefox used to have the craziest memory leaks and now chrome has turned into some insatiable monster for resource.

    Like 8GB is just enough for browsing these days (or we all browse the internet too aggressively, what did we do before tabs? 😂)

    If you keep a lot of tabs open like me (it’s ridiculous let’s just leave it at that) you will quickly discover how poorly Chrome handles it. I needed to install a tab suspender because Chrome would try to load EVERY. SINGLE. TAB. in every single window on startup.

    Firefox on the other hand is much smarter about it and only loads the tabs you actually view.
