@Caastor A job will never make you wealthy. It's there to pay your bills and little more. Find something you enjoy, and do well at it. You'll get recognition for your skill, and will (can) be paid somewhat accordingly. Use the excess to build your fortune through whichever financial means you prefer -- if you desire.

Only get into development if you enjoy development.

@Root to be a devious yes, in most countries you can treat dev as a trade and make a living, but if you don’t like doing it at least a little you won’t get beyond just getting by. But if you are already feeling passion and desire and money is stopping you don’t let it. You can make buckets of money if you are good and have even a little people skills and durability for interviews.

I saw that you also live in Sweden, and as far as I know (I'm a student still) the IT industry is quite active here, so I don't think it's a bad idea, especially with the cheap and in a lot of cases *free* education.

In Sweden we're lucky enough to afford to go for working with what we love over prioritizing financial needs, so take advantage of that. Work with what makes you look forward to your Mondays. :)
