Looks cool, and there is only two univ on my hometown. I’ve always wanted to work on something related to computer but I’ve never taught about programming that time

To be honest, I never wanted to.

I don't know about other countries educational system, but in Portugal when you finish 9th grade you have to choose what you want to do in life, and study that for the next 3 years.

I didn't know what I wanted, so I got into Arts, because someone else was going too and I just wanted to finish school, I didn't care what I was studying.

In the middle of the year I realised that wasn't for me, but I still needed to choose something to study. Everyone said the management course was easy, so I applied. At this point, I still just wanted to finish school.

That year, that course didn't have enough students, so everyone that applied got into management and information systems (I'm using google translate for this, the name might be wrong). Basically, we would study management, IT and programming.

I went into that course because I had to finish school and wanted something easy, ended up liking programming, and made it a career.

In 9th grade I hadn't found anything I wanted to do. So my teacher and the schools education counselor had found an education called webintegrator which was described to me as "something with computers and no homework". I bascially just said "sure" and it turned out that it was something I could do

After finishing High School Medicine, I wasn't able to go to college because of financial issues, so I set home, thinking where do I see my self in few years, and because I knew how to format a PC, install Custom Android ROM, I always wanted to know how websites get made, so I started my journey with HTML5 self teaching from hoem... 5 years later couldn't be more happy with my decision :)

I don’t like dealing with people, computers are more predictable.

Being able to tell a computer to move a turtle around to draw stick pictures in a comp class... when I was 5. Seemed like I had a knack for this stuff.

Everyone else had to have some help. I think I was like "hey look at what I did!"

Got introduced to logo turtle in class 5th, loved it and wanted to do more but then came the ms office apps into the syllabus so i failed several exams in computer science. Then in 8th class the syllabus moved to internet and html programming. I became obsessed with it. By my 10th grade, i was able to create phishing pages of facebook and was able to get 31 account details through it. But my little secret got out and that ended. Then in 11th standard when i tried to opt for comp science, the school didnt let me since they believed its a hard course and it will affect my score(lol bcz i scored least in the other option) and also noone else wanted to opt for comp science. 2 year later after my 12th class result i got into a university and opted computer science engg. And now i am in 2nd year pursuing my course and Its been a great journey.

It happened when somehow I wanted to make a Forum back in 2006 maybe, learned about phpBB, and VBultine .. later on I stopped coding until I got to University studying computer never thought I will be doing web developments but surprise my major was Computer Information System and It was all about programming and creating websites.

It was meant for me I guess ☺️

My dad started copying little games for the Amstrad in QBasic (I think?) from the big user manual and magazines together with me when I was about 5. It kinda stuck :)

I was always into computers, specifically into computer games. When I was 12 I wanted to create my own video game. I started playing around with tools like FPS Maker, then came across Unity. From there I learned about programming languages and what they are. After trying to learn to programme for a few weeks, I gave up back then. But a year later, I got back into programming, this time with Android development. I started understanding the concepts, picked my language and decided to stick with it. Since then, I never wanted to leave the programming world. I learned Java, Kotlin, some JS, played around with HTML and CSS, now learning Go, while working as a programmer on my startup. For me, programming is almost like my second life. I don't have many programmer friends, but maybe that's better. Also, because I'm a bit of an introvert, programming allows me to just isolate myself and dedicate my time to 1 task, although that's changing lately, as I try to hang out with someone I like.

I always had 2 ideas:
- create my own games
- create a sleeping virus to get to control as many computers as possible

Now I can create all the games I want :D they're just ugly af because I did never study design or that kind of stuff

When I first wrote my basic calculation program in c++ , and when I saw that I could make a computer do that.... there was no looking back...I decided I wanted to this .
Thus my Dev life started that day✌️

Cloudn't finish prince of persia (the first one) because of the time... So we started playing with th code on our 386...
Loved it and became one of my biggest passions

When I was a kid, computers were magical for me. And I wanted to learn how to use this magic. So I became a magician. Since then I learned many different kinds of magic and it never stopped to amaze me.

My first encounter of C-language. Event to get to work simple stuff like printing out the multiplication table totally blew my mind then. I realized that programming is like dabbling with LEGO, but with infinite number of pieces of all kind.

I was told I can speak any language to a computer at the age of 5-7. I believed and realized it was a lie at the time I was told, then I later realized the word they meant was communicate. I took the "speak" very literally and that shaped my career.

@coffeedrinker I grew up in a small technology illiterate town. Always considered myself as a tech person, but then I heard Donald Glover with a line about Python... i realized I needed to step my game up. Bestest idea evah.

Fortunately my uncle was an IT engineer. Between two rubik's cube lessons, he gave me a book about BASIC. The rest is history.

I'll always remember that moment when this question popped in my head.
