Visual Studio 2019 is gonna look awesome… even though I don't get why the new "blue" theme will be violet. 🤔

    Every sane people use the dark theme anyway

    VS brand color is violet as far as I remember.

    @FrodoSwaggins I have an old system with 4gm RAM and I still use VS code with no trouble.

    And I don't know what you mean when you say unusable.... I guess you've just never used Visual Studio

    Do you know when it will be released?

    Great! And it also won't fit into your hard drive anymore. Microsoft installs a ridiculous amount of software silently and they have their own version of all industry standard applications/practices.

    @FrodoSwaggins idk wtf is your colleague doing, but I never had performance issues with VS code, and I use it everyday, often leaving it open for days in a row. My guess is that some extension in it is causing a memory leak.

    VS code is actually one of few electron based apps with a good performance and I don't see any IDE running faster than it.
    So if you're having performance issues with a text editor, either your installation or your hardware is fucked up.

    @microsoft stop working on the UI, and give us a 64 bit version dammit.

    @flabbet should be released on Q1 2019

    It's still as unusable.

    @FrodoSwaggins No offense but you are the prime example of elitism. There is not a single rant that is ms/windows/non c++ related, where you did not comment. I mean I am not really a supporter or fan boy of those things either but sometimes these comment have a "Im shoving my opinion down your throat" smell to them. This is just a friendly request to be a bit more open minded. :)

    @flabbet First preview probably in December (there is "Microsoft Connect();" event on December 4, so probably then).
    The stable version probably in March/May 2019.

    Looks are neat and all, but what's going to be new?

    @Krokoklemme Smaller menu on the top, more space for your code.
    And a lot of performance improvements, etc.

    @nikolatesla during the installation you can customize every single component that you want to install, minimum foot print is 1gb, for example for git it install a standard git windows client, for xamarin android it install a standard java sdk, for unity a standard unity... what do you mean with their own version of all industry standard applications/practices ???

    @dontbeevil that's exactly what I'm not interested in

    I’m really leaning on Rider lately. I even bought a license for my business.

    It’s hands-down better across the board, the only thing that is a bit pants is the database connectivity in the IDE, but I just use management studio or workbench.

    I do have to crack open VStudio to do a database publish though.

    Another gigabytes to download and hours to configure...
    Im not moving from my VS 2018!
    No. Unless it has the same theme, functionality and unity support.

    @Gregozor2121 Visual Studio 2018?
    There is only 2017 and 2019-preview. In the preview all your settings (including extensions that are compatible) will get transfered

    did someone download the preview?
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/...

    @dontbeevil yep.
    I still need to test it better, seems faster as always.
