Nitesh9238yto stop windows 10 automatically update follow this steps :
1.click on start and search Services.
2.open the Services window.
3.after opening services window you get the number of Services, so scroll down and search Windows Update services.
4.click on this service, a small window will open just disabled the Startup type and make service status stop.
5.apply the effect and hence your windows will not update anymore
after applying this setting your windows will never auto update anything even your app or store will also not open. -
Now that you mention it I never had any W10 update since I got my laptop about a year ago... I think it might be related to the hosts file that might be blocking some windows services...

Haha no. it's just a joke because the updates are such a pain that you'd think you're installing updates also for another OS at the same time. -
youprat11488yImages and GIFs as comments would be awesome @dfox ^_^. Would like to post a pic of what this ridiculous update is showing me right now.

Don't worry, Tazzles, your super-coding wizard of an octopus , will protect you from future updates 😂 -
youprat11488y"Working on updates 66%. Don't turn off your PC. This will take a while."
Just how much &@#$ *while*?? I've been waiting for two hours!! -
androso8878y@youprat
When they said awhile, they meant until your patience is beaten down so thin that even your own breathing irks you 😂 -
@youprat on github look for "StevenBlack" and then go to his "hosts" file. There should be a download link on the main page or at least some links to text files with all the addresses to put at the hosts file, you just have to choose what you want to block. It is a massive list that blocks almost all pop-up, ads, spam and unwanted websites. It might ne also blocking some w10 services like windows update but I'm not sure...

inkt11668ymy gf got an Asus laptop about 2 months ago, it's running win 10. it's updating destroyed a whole work day for her just last week.
I switch away from win about 5 years ago. Best decision of my life! -
Nitesh9238yactually windows is perfect operating system but before giving it internet connection we have to off the auto update service.
so remember after installing fresh windows 10 just don't allow or connect it to internet and quickly switch off its auto update setting.for switching off auto update see my above comment I explain it all.@unfinishedCode -
inkt11668yI get that you have to do something specific before you can properly use it, or use it worry free anyways. This was one of my issues with it. I couldn't just use it out of the box without some kind of configuration first.
Back when I was in PC repair, I had an image of my work environment. It saved sometime, but wasted too much creating the image in the first place.
Far from the perfect os, IMHO anyways. Might work for you:)
Fuck you Windows 10! You said you won't update automatically!
