I spent a certain amount of my time on side projects related to embedded systems, usually making my own PCBs with a microcontroller in it and then programming it.
When I was a student it was rather easy to access the right resources such as 3D printers, quick PCB prototyping (usually milling machines) and scrap components from departments' abandoned projects.
Now that I am not a student anymore that is a bit more complicated and I usually have to spend some money if I want those services. So I am more likely to abandon or really delay my work. -

My CNC projects (not the new one, this is a toy) need calibrated rods... I found yesterday one store that might sell them if I order...
And from China are just to expensive for low quality ones.
Other than that, that's why I had Compulsive buying disorder (CBD) for a while and spent so much in Arduino stuff... too much money went over budget and now I have stuff that I don't even know why I ordered for... like 50 chips I don't really know where to use. -

Well i have i shit ton of electronic components as well! But i bought them for a reason... specific projects or because they are generic and you use them everywhere. Now they lay useless....
In addition to that i have a tendency to gather a shit metric ton of electronic or other garbage that i think might be useful... -
@Gregozor2121 same here... With a burn out for 3 years it's hard to focus and do anything...

DevRant might not be a perfect place for that question but what the hell.
This is a question for people that do side projects, not only programming but electronic and mechanical as well. If you are a student even better.
(I dont wanna discourage non students but i have limited resources here...)
So the question:
While making a project have you ever had a problem where a limited access to tools was the problem?
(maybe tools was here but nobody wanted to borrow you because of paperwork or some bs.)
I mean that you had a idea or was in middle of a project and you didnt finished/(finished but in crappy condition) because lack of proper tools didnt allow you to?
I realy need your opinion on that subject, i have a nice idea i just have to test the waters.
And please tell me if you are a student or not.
