I have a confession to make that will not tilt the earth on its axis. But it does say something about how thwacked are my thoughts sometimes and the priorities I attach to them.
When I was a big thc smoker, I called my pipe M'sieu le Peep. But pipe is feminine in French. I always was conflicted about using the the incorrect gender for pipe. But why the eff does it matter?
My mother vehemently denies dropping me on my head as an infant. I think I'll threaten her with talk of regression therapy to my childhood. If she winces like she's just rec'd a free gift of electric chair lite [sic] current I'll at least know something happened when I was young!

@irene Yeah English is composed of around 28% French as far as I remember.

That is what I meant, yeah, haha
Couldn't agree more. I guess it's just an efficient way to get hammered without enjoying it *shrugs*.

@bols59 you should try German then.. things are not only male or female, neither is also a thing.
It’s always fun to see people fight about words we adapted from English.

A: “ oh, is this das display you talked about?”
B: “ no no no, it’s called DER display”.
A: “are you retarded? Of course it’s DAS display”

@irene I have to admit, I really like Russian..

I even started learning Russian once, but i forgot EVERYTHING except for how to introduce myself, greeting people, please/thanks and stuff like that..

But the worst thing is your letters. How do you decide which ones to use when multiple combinations result in the same pronunciation?...

@irene I don’t remember the Cyrillic letters but ain’t there things like a letter for “sh”, “shtsh” and for “t” as well?
    Seems redundant to me..
Or maybe I don’t remember correctly..

Anyway, I like the language. Finally something more aggressive than German :P

Well if we're talking about languages, I'd prefer Japanese a lot more than English for expression. I'm still pretty noob at it tho

@irene I like their emphasis on pitch other than that I find their creative works very intriguing .. not just anime... Their songs etc.. feel very different than the repetitive nonsense I've been getting from the other 6 languages I know
  • 0
@irene you mean which languages ?
  • 0
@irene My primary one would be English followed by Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Sanskrit
(We were moving around a lot when I was small)

I definitely won't forget the bout I had with french when I was 15...Soo annoying !

I would add Japanese, I can converse, read and write though I don't have any direct experience with natives.

@irene haven't had experience with Russian but yeah Japanese is nice to pronounce. Music feels light on the ears.

In contrast I die when I listen to German music. Their words are like knives. No offense guys but for communication it's alright like any language.

@irene I don't mind the language it's just the music. Well I prefer soothing music a lot and haven't had a taste of those in German, maybe if they exist I can listen to them and my opinion could change .

Settings -> Show advanced settings -> "Languages" section -> uncheck "Offer to translate pages that aren't in a language you read" box.
  • 1
Make an html file and give the html tag the attribute ' lang="tr-TR" ' now it's Turkish 🤣 and chrome wants to translate it
  • 1
@irene "why Japanese?" Obviously the fact that watching any anime without subtitles

It'd probably a setting ir corruoted profile, check settungs, check extensions that might check the lang.

    If not, reset chrome
