@coffeestudent that would be your firewall. What distro are you using? Iptables is normally configured for you by the install.

Understood. I'm just overly wary of people using Kali because "it's cool." In this case, you get the Rider stamp of approval -
@RiderExMachina Kali is just another distro of Linux. If you remove the pre installed tools, I feel there's no difference between Kali and Ubuntu

Nope, Kali has some core kernel safety features turned off, meaning that a default Kali install is more vulnerable than a default Debian install. The Kali docs specifically go over that.
When you cannot find the solution to the Linux problem on Google but also don't wanna roll back to windows, so you gotta reinstall Linux for the 4th time. FML
