Hah! In Germany (northeast, outside of towns and cities) we are happy to make a call at normal train stations.

Ubergeek2086y@sbiewald I use my mobile phone as a hotspot for my laptop to have internet for work in the metro (S-Bahn). But As soon we come into the tunnel under Frankfurt it’s over.
Und Funklöcher haben wir hier auch xD -
@Ubergeek Funk_löcher_? More like Funkabgründe... When I crossed the border to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania I hardly had any connection anymore, besides Rostock and Stralsund. There were no tunnels anywhere! On the Autobahn or Landstraßen - the same. You may have Edge, but rarely better.
I can understand having connection issues in tunnels and even in high speed trains (where you have WiFi in modern trains). But when a train is standing still at a train station? Not even emergency calls were possible sometimes! -
@CoffeeNcode Yup. Persons who have been in Poland or Denmark are telling me the same. Denmark has even mobile coverage some miles away from the cost.
One can even see the difference between the federal states of Germany.
The really bad thing is, the price of the contracts does not reflect this at all. Unlimited data? Pay >80€ / month...
There has to be better mobile phone connection in underground trains...
