Nah man, those classes weed out certain students. I hated them too, but I'm actually thankful of all the general knowledge I've gained. I don't feel dumb talking to professional, educated co-workers anymore.

The idea of gen ed is a few fold. They give you a more rounded education. They give you a break from your major classes so you don't burn out or overload yourself and screw up your major GPA (if your school does major GPA). They serve as weed out classes, both because people may quit because of them or find something they like better. And (at least to me) I found that they improved some of my soft skills.

wrongwheel08yReminds me of the argument I have regularly, about the benefits of a liberal arts based education at any level vs an tech school certificate. In short those GenEds are for teaching you how to think about a broader world and not just train you to do a job.

rajj10208yThe problem is that the professors don't really think like that. They literally narrate notes and take exams. They basically give marks to students who do tons of rote memorization and write the answers exactly how they were narrated during lectures.
Also, don't undervalue the importance they give to students with good handwriting. -.-

I hate General Ed subjects so much.
They waste my time to no end because I hate them and I procrastinate to study them. Meanwhile, I'm not coding because it makes me guilty that I'm focusing on college studies.
Gosh!
