I decided to rewrite the cross-window comms lib from the ground up. After all it isn't too big (some 500 lines for the first level, 300 for a little abstraction) and the original is more of an artwork than good code. It somehow works but there are as many explanations as to why as viewers and nobody is allowed to touch it because it would probably break.
