I need a life advise - pls share your wisdom!

I have my first client located in the US. He wants to pay with a cashier's check and I have no idea how that works. How do you European or even german freelancer are getting paid by american clients?

Paypal, western union, transferwise. Its pain in the ass with cheques.

A cashier's check is basically a guaranteed check as the bank deducts/holds the funds upon issuing. Here in the states they're dead-simple: present check, show matching ID, receive money.

However, I don't know what added difficulties you might run into since it's international. I'd go with transferwise instead.

@Root this motherfucker refuses to make a simple transfer. He persists on sending a check. 😫

I wouldn't accept checks, what if he had no balance in his account? It is a long way to your money. Either paypal or western union, I wouldn't trust any other payment method when it comes to strangers

@gitpush it's a cashier's check, so the payment would be done by his bank.

Look up cashiers check scams in the US. There are very few times where this is a good option.
