Hmm, thinking of getting a surface book and dual booting Linux on it for my laptop and then a Mac mini for iOS development for uni, what do you guys think?

Those surface tablets are powerhouses, but you really get benefit from models well over $1k usd. I'd be worried about getting a cheaper model and it being useless in a few years.

@kevbost well I'd sorta thought about that too but all the tech in them are pretty new like so I can't imagine it would be that bad like

get a Macbook and install all those OSes on it .

@skonteam I also thought about that but the MacBook pros right now aren't as powerful as the surface book plus I can use the surface book as a tablet

@hidden But what is the price difference between high end Mac and high end surface? (serious question, I don't know)

In the end it comes down to what you want to do. My current setup is Mac laptop for personal development, custom Windows PC for work and gaming.

Didn't Surface Books have some problems with Linux? I might be wrong but I think I heard about it some time ago.

Put Linux in a VM if the Surface Book is spec'd high enough. Not that I would recommend them though... Dual booting those things is madness when you can run both at the same time.

I'd personally get a top end DELL Precision 7510, built to last, but not as portable as the Surface Book, obviously.
