When you write a guide and people completely ignore it, then bug you about problems they wouldn't have had if they read the damn guide in the first place.

Welcome to devRant! Yeah, dislike when that happens. It's good experience writing the guides though and some people will use it - in my experiences.

You can always try to dumb down the manual. And put those returning questions in a FAQ

@Charmgoggles that's exactly what we're going to do, were conveying it to a wiki soon. Hopefully less questions after that.

Speaking out of experience:

Remember to mention the manual and the FAQ every time they've fucked themselves.

It sure will not help, and they will feel even dumber.

As someone who DOES read manuals and wikis... thank you so much for documenting stuff!

If they make both my life and theirs harder because they don't rtfm, I'll help, but I'll bring it up each and everytime so they know they are making their life more complex by coming to me. In extreme cases, I'll pull it up in the documentation and just point to it and read it and expound on it. 😅😅😅😅

@brettmoan Word on the street is that I am an obnoxious and difficult coworker that don't like anybody because I treat them like that. Stupid blockheads.

@haabe hahah, sorry mate. Maybe turn up your humor regarding other topics. I find the best and safest humor is to make jokes about your own mistakes and make fun of your self. If people know you're as "hard" on your own mistakes and idiotic moments as you are theirs then you slowly build a good repore

@brettmoan Good advice. I'm leaving the company anyhow, so I really don't care anymore. Although that word on the street almost ruined my chances for another company.
