Going to a dev meetups-

EXPECTATION: I'll meet cool dev people or maybe find an awesome career opportunity =D

REALITY: I feel too awkward to say anything to anyone the entire time :(

I know what you mean, and it's easy to feel like everyone there already knows everyone else. Reality is, they've been to like 2 meetups before and they're desperately hoping the person they just called "Steve" really is Steve :)

Yeah, somehow that's the thing with cs people. Back in chemistry, a subject where one would expect a fairly high nerd quota, we were pretty much all around, loud, fun, extroverted people. Now in CS they stand in small groups, whisper to each other and talk primarily in yes and no. (I know there is a boolean logic joke in there)
