Seems like you're stuck with your oh so great job for now. At least we get good rants out of it. But seriously I hope you find something better soon man.

@Charmesal well I’ve been told by my remote manager for the 9th time all the pain points will be solved in the next 2 weeks. I’m just not being patient enough.
#FingersCrossed -
@practiseSafeHex that sounds too good to be true but I'm keeping my fingers crossed as well

Setting your status to "open" just means "send me recruiter spam". I've never heard of anyone who's actually found a job that way.
Interestingly I have had a few bits of more "reasonable" recruiter spam from StackOverflow, in that they actually mention my personal experience somewhat and the jobs make a bit more sense. Again though, I've never personally heard of anyone who's found a job that way.
If you're serious about finding one, either sign up with a recruiter with a good rep, or hunt the opportunities yourself! -
@AlmondSauce I do much prefer stackoverflows job thing, but a lot less places use it. Thanks for reminding me I need to update my profile on that!
Not that it in anyway defends my point, given how its turned out, but I actually did get this current job from the "open" thing on linkedin. Theres a tool recruiters have where you can "watch" someone. If the status changes, recruiters get notified. They can contact you from that then -
@practiseSafeHex Yeah, there's not many jobs up there, but the guys that actually get in contact with you seem more genuine as a result.
Sadly though if there's only a small selection of jobs there there's little point in putting much effort into the platform! -
Condor323326y@irene same, just made an account there and never looked at it again. When the whole connection thing got mentioned, I figured, screw it. There's no way that I'm gonna spend effort on looking for "connections" in the same way that I look for actual job listings at companies that seem interesting. LinkedIn seems like a big no-no for me. Not sure if I'm missing out on anything 🤔

jeeper58096yLinked in is pretty cancerous unless you are connecting with specific people at a particular company and it’s not a situation where you want to be connected on personal social media or texting. Indeed has better listings.

Well I’ve had my LinkedIn status to open for a little while now. Time to check what exciting offers (me, an iOS developer / team lead) has received.
- Senior python engineer with multiple years machine learning experience.
- a job 3000 miles outside the only city I’ve marked myself as interested in.
- Architect for a .NET team.
- Senior UX Researcher.
- The same job for a bank 6 times. But each time they won’t initially give the name of the company. Only “my fav client to work with” until I respond.
... not much hope in this process
