b3b340656yOn the one hand, yes. On the other hand I don't think this will happen. There have alwys been these things where people could create their website with drag and drop programs. But lets be honest. There will be always the need for custom stuff as drag n drop shit can't cover everything

Voxera113886yFirst time I heard about tools that would make programmers obsolete was 1993 and it has yet to happen.
Instead its a profession thats constantly needs more people :)
As the easy stuff gets easy enough for non devs to do customers realize they want more and I actually do not see that ending.
Users/customers will never be content with whats available, they will always want more :) -
@Voxera that’s a valid point, and a fundamental truth in humanity I guess. It serves as a very good explanation of the word “Developer” too.

closer506yNew solutions and services are made every day, and the old ones are being upgraded. It only means more jobs, because more is to be done.
If you make these kind of services someone will have to maintain them, upgrade them, write plugins for them, and someone will still have to drag and drop if they feel like it.
In the past it was harder, with punching cards or even just assembly language. Then people realized they can create something more simple to speed up programming process. These new programming languages didn't cost people jobs. Quite the opposite. They created huge number of new job opportunities and even whole new industries.
There might come a day when some programming will be obsolete, but critical thinking and creativity that's necessary for it is very hard (at the moment impossible) to be machine-learned. -
If that ever happens, the last developer will create goddamn analraping killer robots from space just to teach them a lesson.

I’m afraid that some day, services will come along that destroys the need for actual programmers. That all of us will simply be stuck at work, drag & dropping these new software solutions in place.
