@ganjaman in theory, sure, but in practice (in many parts of the world) it's "commonly accepted" practice to use coercion, bribes and/or backhanders to alter those choices. Disgusting, sure, but it definitely happens.

bioDan61596yWait till you have kids.
And a chain of pharma stores.
..
All i wanted is to secure the life of my child. Do you think it was easy paying all these bribes? Dedicating time and thoughts for my child?
- uncle bioDan -
@bioDan One has the right to choose his own carrier, my cousin is not able to complete his pharma degree, as it is out of his interest, then what to do with that pile of money which doesn't gives inner satisfaction!
The bribe was given for the uncle's own benefit, so that he can use my cousin in the way he want. -
bioDan61596y@Jay-Kadam i agree. How old is your cousin? Is he paying for his studies or does his father pays for him?
-
@bioDan He is 20, his father pay his fees. If he leaves this degree in middle, then also he is bound to pay fees for the whole course till the end.
-
bioDan61596y@Jay-Kadam i don't mean to be disrespectful or anything, this is just my opinion.
i think if you pay for a service or product then the choice yours.
If your cousin was paying for his degree himself than the choice of his degree was his to make.
The smart thing for his father to do is to consider and prioritize the choices of his son.
But if the father doesn't want to, it's well in his right, and since i don't have children yet, I'm in no position to judge his choice and so i respect it. -
@bioDan Even after a lot of arguments by my cousin, His father trusted his uncle rather than his son. The uncle mind washed his family members.

Aren't these two fields, math and biology, prerequisites to bioinformatics?
If so he could have a promising career by learning to apply what he loves to all the shit that bores him.
At least he had someone that wanted him to do something.
My step dad wanted me to cook meth, and kick me out of the house during drug fueled rages once a month starting at the ripe old age of 12 years old.
A really sad story of my cousin's carrier,
My cousin was a smarter guy in math during school grades but there comes his devil aunt and uncle during his high grades forcing him and his family members to go for biology in high school. They just want to use my cousin for their benefit, as they own many medical stores in the town they can use my cousin in future in their field. The uncle reached the school's principal and confirmed his admission in biology giving bribe.
Here where my cousin's carrier starts to demolish, as he was interested in math but he was forcefully admitted in biology class.
It was all ok till high school but further the uncle fought with family members misguiding them and took cousin's admission in pharmacy discipline in a university offering bribe. Here the min problems starts, As he is not interested in pharmacy he is failing in the exams and now he is under a great depression.
PS : The uncle ruined whole carrier of my cousin just for his future monetary benefits.
