Depends on the task. Varies from infected mushroom, astrix, psycho stick, shpongle, ott, workbench, chilly Gonzales (the white keys albums), classical and even some nerdcore or ICP from time to time (there, I said it).
Anyway, it will never be the mainstream top 40 stuff. -
I'm partial to either local music or movie soundtracks. Some Disney tune while piecing together a Frontend or the Sherlock theme when solving some complicated problem just fits the situation.

beverest358yGonna go really contrary here, Folk. I love folk in general, generally modern stuff, it gets me relaxed like I am coding by a lake which if I am honest is my dream place to work. A cabin, with a big window looking out onto a a forest surrounded lake, with a solid wood desk looking directly out over the water. So it puts me in my happy place and my policy has always been I work best when I am happy
My favourites are Gregory Alan Isakov, Andrew Belle and Nathaniel Rateliff. I wrote a book listening to the last one. -
I like obnoxious electronic remixes of popular songs (loud, up-tempo) when I'm coding, as the music isn't interesting enough to distract me, but filters out the office environment around me.... When I'm reading something though, I prefer total silence

I really like progressive house for programming, find it makes me more productive

DotM8298yWhatever's at hand, as long as it is rock or rock-related; nowadays, YT Heavy Metal list LoL (though some of the songs AREN'T heavy metal but eh. Still in the rock genre I guess)
