Planning.
- Sales people: we will deploy and install 100 customers by the end of the month.
Meaning: 100 it's impossibile, we want actually do 50, but we set a high target so people will sweat their ass off. But we don't tell them the truth.

- Tech people: no way, we will deploy and install no more than 25!
Meaning: we could do 100 but we would die. We will guarantee 25, but since we are good we will optimise the workflow and maybe we will make it to 50. But we don't want to create expectations.

Big misunderstanding arise if these two language are used in the same meeting.

At least if I'm in the meeting as technical people

    Sounds about right.

@Root well after swearing one hour I won't deploy 100 hundred because it's impossible, the conclusion is I'm a negative person, delusional, manic depressive and with personal problems.

    So now I'm really motivated

    @deviloper
Apparently sales persons don't even expect their success.

Though for Germanys public listed sales clerk I learned living by the five (or more) Rs.
    Thar is
    Right person
    Right time
    Right place
    Right quality
    Right price.

There's been the honest sales clerk guild in Hamburg. Though I believe it's extinct x'D

Also, this might be a point why some internationals might hate GER. Knowing what's right (engineer like), pretending to do (sales man) so and then fucking all over (yes, as Mama Merkel does).
