Time tracking. 😡🤮 If I’m salaried and only working on one project for one client, why the hell should I waste my time making weekly reports of how many hours I spent coding, reviewing pull requests, and sitting in (mostly pointless) meetings?

In the US, if you are working on a capital expense project, then the time you spend on the project is tax deductable, which is why large companies ask salaried employees to track time. It means fewer taxes. Baseline projects, on the other hand, are just expenses. New development is a capital expense (investment), while baseline (maintenance of old code) is an expense.

So the client knows that you're not on youtube all day without lookin at the code.
