@KartSriv oh yah, have a decrement in ur face then
  • 3
@theuser agreed, you want to be negative, either explain your reasoning or don't post at all

Sorry guys. That was just a demo rant so I could present my IT project to the class (I wrote an incomplete devRant client for android). But there is no function to delete rants yet. Will delete it when back home

@KartSriv I also complemented your decrements

@Frederick it's the rule in most forums imo, if you don't have anything of value to add, don't post at all
  • 1
@Frederick i kinda lost you, i'm saying that if someone wants to be negative, it's better if they explain their reasoning rather than "i don't like this" which helps no one. So yeah i consider it offensive and spam to post nonsense without arguments

Never had that feeling. Hope it stay like that for a loooong time.

@Frederick I see you don't come from a forum background, which devrant leans more towards that than instant messaging where that would be okay to post "I agree/I don't agree".

Thing is that "I agree" doesn't require an explanation as much as its counterpart because it's basically agreeing the premise, disagreeing on the other hand requires some form of a justification

@Frederick I have been an admin on a somewhat major forum for almost 5 years now and while I agree that it's not the same behavior, I would add that it's not frowned upon to double post here for example, what I'm talking about is common sense and it would greatly improve the quality of the post while also improving any human being who takes 1 minute more of his time to think and give a beneficial contribution rather than agreeing, I'd argue that by increment-ing you're inherently agreeing anw why do it again and how is that not considered spam.

Also just because it's happening all the time doesn't mean we should turn a blind eye

Sorry for the long post, I finally opened devrant on my browser :D

@Frederick Not really looking to set up new rules, it's a common sense issue not a rule per se, you can also tick the "Not for me" reason, that's how broad the options are.

On to the next point that how is it not considered spam if the user incremented or decremented just posted what they did so now you have the same effect at least twice, now multiply it by a number of people that does the same thing and you got spam and not the meaty one

As for this rant, he/she might delete it anw, we're just discussing to see each others' point of view, I might change my mind or you might change yours

I love programming the craft, the down right art form at times, the mental exercise, the puzzle.

I hate programming the industry, the crunched timelines, the coercion into making computers do things they aren’t good at, the massive turnover, the idiot users, the dick programmers who don’t consider what mess they leave behind, and the dick leadership that don’t consider the implications of what they are making when they push teams to skip security or documentation.
