@dmonkey kinda but not really.
It's the classes that are required, but most have little to no correlation with your degree.
Like you have to have x number of hours in math, two science classes (with one being a lab), etc.
Obviously, the math is useful for this field. The science classes have potential to be useful (such as taking physics if you're interested in game dev, since that will probably be useful).
But overall, they're fucking useless towards the degree. I've taken mythology, two political science classes, art history, communication studies, etc.
None of that is relevant and it was a pain in the ass waste of time. -
-
@dmonkey lol that's a good joke man.
If you weren't interested in agriculture or health field, there weren't options for you at my high school. Side effect of being from BFE -
Hazarth95216y@Stuxnet points 1,2 and 3 sound just as preachy as the people you describe, Hellen Keller.
-
totoxto2486y4) a baseline general education is very useful to give people a common foundation of knowledge when interacting in society.
-
pullervo3686y#5 you don't really know what will be useful in the future. I strongly feel quite the opposite. It's really good to widen your perspective. You can't enjoy, love and feel passionate about everything you do, can you?
-
Best ted tall ever. I particularly loathe people who edit to thank for likes....seriously who gives a fuck? What are you going to do with those likes?
I can't imagine someone walking up to me and telling me that they got 1000+ likes on a YouTube comment section. It sort of seems pathetic to get excited over something like that -
@Hazarth either nothing about what he said bothers you, so you can't relate.
Or you do literally every single thing and enjoy pointless classes made to waste your time with an easy grade aaaaaand humidity.
Which one is it my dude? -
Hazarth95216y@AleCx04 It's the one I said it is. Im bothered by most, but at the same time I recognize that ranting about these is exactly the thing that bothers me about these people. As I said, I find it Ironic -_-
-
@Hazarth it is called venting my dude. It is completely acceptable to see bullshit and complain about it. It is a way to cope around the ammount of stupid shit regular people post online.
-
@Hazarth none, you are within your right to do so. I just question the usefulness of your original statement. So the dude complains about something you dislike, and you tell him that he sounds as preachy as the people that he is complaining about.....while at the same time you also disliking said people?
I ain't trying to be a dick man, correct me if I am wrong but this is the same(to me at least) as:
Him: "I fucking hate people that throw trash on the floor"
You:"I hate them too, but you are just the same as them because you are complaining about them"
You catch my drift. I might be horribly wrong though. -
Hazarth95216y@AleCx04 Id rather use this example:
People: Your taste is shit
OP: Their taste is shit
I literally just said I find it ironic and thats where it ends for me. Im not making it personal, I wont even remember OPs nickname once I click off this thread. If you think Im wrong thats fine, I just dont see the difference between "old music is objectively better, and new music is shit" and "new music is objectively just as good, and your opinion is shit" ... both are quite subjective statements and serve little purpose. Both are fine ofc and If I had to pick one Id rather agree with OP, but the irony of that isn't lost on me. I just find these kinds of complains funny. -
Some more of Stux's !dev pet peeves
1) Teenagers who comment shit like "I'm from the wrong generation" or "today's music is trash. This is real music" on songs from like the 70s and 80s. Like shut the fuck up. You can like whatever music you want, but your taste in music doesn't make you unique, so just shut the fuck up and listen to the music. I was jamming out to 70s and 80s when I was 9, so you aren't the first to enjoy older music at a young age
2) "Old heads" who comment shit like "this isn't real *genre*" on a new song that isnt like the older version of that genre. News flash: music fucking evolves. Just because that country song doesn't have a twangy guitar in it, that doesn't mean the song ain't country. Just because the rap song ain't some deep ass poetic shit, it doesn't make it any less of a rap song.
3) People who edit their comments on YouTube to say shit like "wow thanks for all the likes, I wasn't expecting this." Wooptie fucking doo. Your comment got a few thousand likes. Fun fact: those likes are meaningless.
4) Humidity. Fuck that shit man.
5) General education classes. They're a fucking pain in the ass man. Like im 98% confident I don't need art history in the real world. Or mythology. "tHeY tEaCh YoU tO lEaRn." Teach me to learn in degree specific classes then. At least their content will be interesting to me.
My name is Stuxnet. Thanks for coming to my TED talk again.
