It seems pretty useless. Its overly simplistic and easily replacable with other programming languages like Java.

vane112805yI am in the middle of writing ios app prototype and I like swift.
Particularly swift 4.
I was able to build something useful in one day.
I touched objective c only a little before and I found it to complicated to build some prototype fast.
Looks like javascript, kotlin, python.
I will be doing kotlin android app next so I can compare both.
I am programming in python for a living. -
For a starter Swift is much easier to read and learn than Objective-C
It is fast enough but the only good use for is iOS and macOS apps, I never found a reason why it needs to replace for example, C#, Java ...etc. for web services
Last but not least, I wouldn't want to put myself under Apple's mercy they tend to force everyone to play by their rules. So Swift goes only for iOS and macOS but other than that I want my freedom doing whatever I want (for example i++ is lame, but i += 1 is the new trend according to Apple, I don't want to find them replacing stuff just because they are old C style) -
@rEaL-jAsE Its more of a personal opinion. I like more low level programming languages

musician9425yIt seems like a natural reaction for devs to classify something unknown as shit.
I would suggest to overcome this reaction and actually check it out a bit before you form your opinion
