Debian unstable, still up to date. Why would I reinstall a working system? -
drRoss48808y@Bluehorn Correct.
Reinstalling is a waste of time.
If you're that bothered, use something like deep freeze on Windows or a script on Linux to essentially reset it back to default. -
flag020318yI had to do that on windows. Now I have a windows VM on my Linux box and I created a snapshot for windows after setting it up with all the basic tools and stuff. Whenever it gets too messy to deal with, I just restore to snapshot

MindTrap2418y@SteveWinfield if u want to have control over the files on your system u can try WinDirStat.
It reads the whole directory tree once and represents each file as a colored rectangle, the area of which is proportional to the file's size. It helps u have a disk overview and make it easier to decide which files to clean up. https://windirstat.net/ -
MindTrap2418y@SteveWinfield well for ubuntu KDirStat (apt-get install k4dirstat) or simply use a linux equivalent method of a restore point. It seems an overkill to reinstall os.

Easier to do minor maintenance than reinstall and reconfigure settings and then reinstall apps and get updates and so on...
-
I've got way too many dev tools and other programs to do this more than once every couple years. Would take virtually all day for me to do installs and configure everything the way I like it again.
