stisch48175yThe first computer *I* owned, that was *mine* (because all the other teenagers were buying cars and trucks and I just wanted to surf the web) was a beast of a 486.
The guy that built it was a local dude that didn't put a cpu fan on it, so my computer would slow and slow and crash. I read a bunch online and figured out the issue, and was so proud of myself that I was DOOMED to play with computers the rest of my life. -
coditect2675yI’m going to go with a broad interpretation of “used” and say that my first was the IBM XT that Dad had in his home office in the mid to late eighties. One of my favorite pastimes as a toddler (or so my parents tell me) was to sneak up behind my father while he was working, rake my hands across the keyboard, and squeal with delight as the computer bleeped and Dad groaned at the now-frozen machine.

I only recall a monochromatic green screen with lines that shot 'bats' and copying the keyboard in pink highlighter while learning letters.

GhostDev9255yMy aunts pc, I was about 5 years old or so, couldn't yet read or write properly. My older brother was explaining how to type on it, and create a space using the space bar and to never press the delete button and do not go into the msdos icon 😅. This was around 1995/6. I still recall my mind being blown cause I had always wondered what the significance was of bashing that button so often when people were typing 😋

Bubbles68275yI don’t remember the computer I was using, I think it was the Dell Dimension XPS D266 than ran windows XP. I would run an Atari Emulator on it and I didn’t do much else besides play games since I was 2 at the time.
Side note. I don’t know if that’s the exact computer but I’ve been searching and that’s the name of one that looks a hell of a lot like the one I remember.
What's the first computer you ever used?
This was the year I became obsessed with computers. I was eleven years-old. My elementary school was gifted a computer lab (1983) with the Commodores seen in the picture (VIC-20s, PETs, C64s).
