Fuck timesheet
It's bad enough someone fucking disturb you in the middle of great thoughts. What's worse, you're QUESTIONED where the fuck your time was spent. So you need to work out how much time you have been disturbed, and put in the fucking timesheet!
What a fucking joke! As if we have too much time for meaningful stuff.

Well, if you are in the US, and you are working on new development, then your project is a capital expense and a tax deduction, but in order to get the deduction, the company has to show where you are spending your time. If you are doing baseline work, then your time is not a capital expense and you don't need to track time.

I gave up on my timesheet for my side job. I forgot to turn it in every week since last September. This month they swapped me to salary. Yes, lost some money... I guess technically they might take the timesheets if I turned them in now, maybe... but it's the side job, and well, at least now I don't have to fill one in.

@iAmNaN What annoys me is it feels more like for blaming than for the sake of the project. We do not have a taxation reason here too.

Most places need some sort of timesheets for reporting purposes, resource utilization, cost overruns and such. I don’t know what’s the deal at your workplace.

I have an elaborate time sheet that I gotta fill everyday that takes 5 minutes of my time. I do it first thing morning or before I leave. Administrivia.

Your rant is a classic case of hurr durr I’m a programmer my time is too precious I’m so important time sheets are beneath me what a waste of time hurr durr.

Stop being a bitch and enter your time sheets. Don’t act like a prick.

@grumpyoldaf 5 min I wouldn't bitch. how about 30 min on it and still getting questioned for another 30 min about this and that missing on the timesheet? I suck at it so if you have any "Filling Timesheet 101" course or whatever means to help please let me know otherwise fuck you

@ctrl-alt-del our time sheets aren't detailed. Basically a bucket for each project, and we divide up the time between the buckets. Trying to get more granular than that would be impossible, because of how we work. For example, I spent most of today bouncing between a few developers, and a couple of DevOps peeps, and by the end of the day all I knew is that I had been really busy. And amazed that I hadn't dorked anything up, because working on five different requests all at the same time gets really hairy. Companies that require minute by minute tracking are just micro managing the crap out of projects, which is why so many projects result in... crap.

@iAmNaN Thanks. I feel like you expressed exactly what I wanted to say and, perhaps, was not able to convey clearly. For fucks sake this is a rant. And there's this dumbshit jump out of nowhere putting shit on top of it. What I'm pissed about is the fact that the timesheet is not doing anything too constructive but the opposite.
