1) I feel that. I'm averaging 3 hours a sleep a night, but usually it's less than. I drink a lot of water to make me piss a lot, that why I'm constantly moving around to go to the bathroom. Might not be the best idea for your case lol
2) can't speak to it, but I can relate sometimes.
3) Could you get something to make your desk a standing one? I've seen platforms and shit that will raise your desk up to standing levels. Or maybe just us a box if you have to.
I kinda miss how much I used to walk freshman year of high school. I walked like 4 or 5 miles a day. Now I barely walk one -
Do an Excel sheet where you write in your sleep schedule for every day.
Bed time | Sleep time | Alarm clock time | Wake up time | Get up time | Time/hours slept | Time until you left your home | Time arrived at work.
Assuming that you have some kind of fitness tracker according your knowledge of your daily 6000 steps. Use it to track your sleep.
By knowing and understanding your behavior it will be easier to adjust your schedule. And it let's you experiment with different timing.
Anything less than 6 hours of sleep is worthless. You think you're fine but you're not, according to science. -
jdebs3366yRecommend a convertible standing desk, that way you can get up for periods of time when you are feeling sleepy but not have to stand all day, which is tiring as well. Try to get up and move around at least once an hour (more often if possible). I try to fit in some light stretching as well. Take eye strain breaks. I wouldn't worry as much about the productivity thing myself...as long as you are getting your work done, it's pretty natural to have it go in bursts.

As far as the productivity issue goes, break your tasks into sub tasks. And then do the same with sub tasks too. I usually have a notepad with say a list of ten items to do in a day. And then I break them into a few more sub tasks and I end up with a list that has 16 tasks to do. When I’m feeling productive, I do what’s interesting and get it checked off the list. When I’m not feeling productive, the mundane tasks get done and I just need to check it off the list.
Writing it all down helps a lot. Am I making sense to you? -

For consistent productivity I recommend setting very short term goals and work on them. Regardless of your feeling motivated to do it or not. -
Anyone mentioned the pomodoro technique yet? it helps a lot to perform more consistent and with taking regular breaks. there are some cool apps, too.

bols597746yI understand about the falling asleep. I think it may have to do with your food intake. Since you're new, and your benefits haven't kicked in, I'd google the fuck out of low blood sugar at a desk job. If your benes have already taken effect, set up an appt with a nutritionist. Many people don't know that their mood/energy level/productivity has to do with with wavering blood sugar. As far as your legs hurting, get up every fifteen minutes and do some stretching exercises.

Okay so this is my first desk job. I'm experiencing some personal issues and wondering if they are normal, what you do to combat them, etc.
First of all, some days, I literally almost fall asleep on the job. Caffeine doesn't work much. I know it's just my sleep schedule but what should I do in this situation? What if I actually do fall asleep?
Secondly, I'm finding that my productivity only exists in bursts. I'll do three hours of work in 10 minutes, and then 10 minutes of work in three hours. I can't just catch a stride. How do I become more consistently productive? Should I be more consistent?
My legs hurt. Sitting all day is not for me. I guess this is more situation to situation, and I do walk almost 6k steps a day on my breaks, but it really doesn't feel great most of the day.
