Finally got a laptop that ISN'T a single-core 1.2GHz machine (slowed down to 600MHz or so equivalent due to... CPU age, I think?) so i'm taking the plunge inro Proton.

Let's see how it goes.

    UPDATE: 1 hour 15 minutes of Portal 1 on a full charge. It chugs a little occasionally but it's (barely) playable.

    All in all, *not bad*

    @Haxk20

    Hardware: Intel i3 at 2260MHz, Sandisk SSD Plus 480GB, 4GB RAM (see Note 1,) 128MB onboard VRAM, and no UEFI. Standard generic Intel iGPU.

    Software: Linux Mint 19.1, Cinnamon 4.0.10 with kernel 4.15.0-52-generic.

    Note 1: I have 2x4GB I could put in it, but it doesn't boot when >4GB is inserted. It'll POST, get to GRUB, then die after trying to boot. Memtest86+ makes it die at around the 800MB mark, but the RAM is totally fine in my old laptop. SSD swap is pretty close, though, so it's not a big deal.
