Thanks to Microsoft and Windows for making my work day one hour shorter. FUCK OFF WITH THIS FORCED UPDATE/RESTART SHIT!!!! Who the fuck in Microsoft thought that this was a smart idea? Fucking assholes. And yes, I did tell it to only update outside office hours. Doesn't work apparently.
Luckily it's easy to explain to my boss why I had one hour of not being productive.

Here's the fix (at least it worked for me!)

    1. Delete the folder C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\XblGameSave on the system. Please note that you can only do so with elevated privileges.

    2. Delete the Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft\XblGameSave

@haabe sorry but what is Xbox live gotta do with this?

@masterakay I have absolutely no clue, other than that deleting the folder and registry key from Windows 10 fixed the endless install failure loop.

@haabe That's assuming it is actually doing that, which it doesn't look like it is.

I edited the reg files. No more updates. Ever! F u Microsoft!

@drRoss install log says it failed installing the update multiple times in the last couple of days. When I did the fix, as described, it installed flawlessly right away. And that was the only thing I did to my computer at the time.

Of course it could be a coincidence. But I don't see any other viable solution to why.

Well if it makes you feel better. My firewall is a idiot. Anything I tell it to do, it ignores me and goes back to default.. plus it leaves a pop-up everytime a internet app is opened.. (Chrome multiple times a day)

    😖

Thanks for all your comments and ++.
@haabe It did not loop in this situation, but it did take an hour due to the update being a major one with visual updates as well.

@FuzzDistor it's sad, really. I wonder if Microsoft Server will implement the same policy 😑
