being able to pick up a tool that you need is a great skill. also, being able to look someone dead in the eye and go "i had to learn classic ASP in 2019 to support an old system, so i did" is not bad. are you aware cobol programmers are not only in demand but get paid pretty? at least where i live. ASP may not be the same, but if you can pick up ASP, you can pick up cobol ;)

arcioneo7705yeverybody is so obsessed with "modern" things; Bro, seriously, no matter the language, as long as you apply design patterns, automation and good practices, with only that, you can create the most powerful software, freaking language is the less important thing.
But you won't understand it until you see a real developer one day

You want to know what's probably the worse thing about working where I work?
We are working with a language that has been obsolete for over 17 years.
But because the application is so heavily integrated between all of our clients there really is nothing we can do about it.
They are trying to move to ASP.NET but it is fucking slow as fuck.
I have to support this, and I'm learning a bunch of classic ASP that might not even be useful to anyone in the current work industry... maybe...
