Nope. It's just a shitty, controlling corporate style of environment.
Currently, its really rather hot, and we are still forced to sit here in the office wearing suit pants and shirts.
They won't install aircon nor allow us to keep the fire door open to the only room that has an aircon unit because its a health and safety risk. -

After 26 °C the company must provide cooling through AC, cool drinks, modified dresscode or other workingtimes and after 35 °C the room isnt suitable for work and the company cant force you to work in it.*
If they wont to do anything, you can report them to the authories or sue them.

stop68025y@irene its not only the temperature, if the humidity is also high the temperature can be lower. if someone gets an heatstroke, for example, the company usually gets fined, must pay the heathcare and usually must pay an fine for the pain and suffering to the affected person. Also if and accident happens without injury it can be extreme expensive.

Sounds like a shitty place to work. No professionalism or regard to personal needs.
I work with a guy that has a medical device tied to his phone. Tells him if his kid is still alive or needs immediate assistance. Not only is taking someone's personal property theft, it could also be risking someone's life. -

Tbf we have desk phones for that sort of thing, so that isn't really an issue.
The problem isn't so much the banning of phones as in reality you aren't paid to sit on the thing all day, but the way in which its been handled.
I also don't see the issue of checking it once in a while so long as you're not taking the piss, and those who are should be dealt with independently.
There just doesn't seem to be much give & take just take, take and take. Yes, I'm paid to be here, but I am providing a skilled service in return. -
@delegate212 Well... maybe. The idea is that skilled work is in very high demand. And when the bosses start issuing stupid commandents, the skilled workers will leave.
Happended to me in the past. All the high value ppl left for other things. The bosses were left with the mediocre, and the idiots. Then the bosses left... -
@magicMirror Which is pretty much where I'm at now (ready to start looking elsewhere for employment). This sort of thing has been a reoccurring theme here.

So, firstly allow me to start with I'm not one to use my phone, so the idea that I'm not allowed to doesn't actually bother me, but the threatening tone really does drive me insane. The corporate office environment here is quickly getting old. Am I wrong to be annoyed by this?
