@AleCx04 lmao I think they heard us because it was in my suggested articles on chrome 😂😂
-
I guess it's the mix - the most apps simply do not have good gesture support.
And I would say the mist people simply do not have a modern Android version where they could have replace the three buttons system wide (if that's possible now, I'm still stuck with Android 8).
Do you remember all those websites where you can navigate when you swipe left or right? In FF mobile (I didn't test in Chrome) this is highly annoying as trigger during scrolling.
Unfortunately I'm not sure what Google does exactly compare here. -
@sbiewald the (lack of) support is a growing pain that can and will be overcome. It's already such a shit fest when it comes to support and dead apps, this ain't gonna end the world
I haven't used the three buttons on a consistent basis since the Pie beta and I have 0 intentions of ever going back.
Plus people are gonna whine whenever you make any big change to their phone, even if it's for the better. $20 says a large amount of the people they asked didn't even try the gestures for a whole day before making this conclusion. It took me about a day and a half before I got the first set of gestures with the pill and back button down, and about 3 hours with the Android Q gestures. -
noogli6455ySince I got my pocophone I run full screen so without buttons and gestures enabled it was amazing till my screen protector came that only covers 98% of the screen so left and right swipes were Harder. Then my case came which fits top and bottom perfect but extrudes a bit so I have to cramp my finger rly hard in the bottom between case and screen to properly Tigger the gestures. So it's barley working for me and I wish there would be a setting to change the area of detection. I'll keep using it but only because it look 10xbetter and on screen buttons aren Hassel free either.
-
@theKarlisK @jespersh I pressed more buttons that I didn't want to than I have fucked up gestures.
-
Gusteres limit functionality. There can be only few gestures that can be implemented on a screen.
I prefer buttons for something basic like this. -
@Stuxnet I’m not investing 3 hours in learning some shit obsolete in 6 month.
Give me back 3 physical buttons -
@NoToJavaScript having shitty taste in technology must suck lol
It really isn't that hard but sure man keep using your antiquated method. -
@Stuxnet LOL.
1. Physical button will always be faster than gestures.
2. Gestures may break on damaged screen
3. Most of them are NOT “good” and requires learning
Sure man, keep using your shitty unstable technology -
@NoToJavaScript yikes it was a shit post dude damn
Use whatever the fuck you want I genuinely don't care. But ffs the people that bitch about millisecond delays are lame lol
Besides, it's not like many Android users will even get gestures due to things like Samsung does everything in their power to make that shitty skin not look like Android or shitty companies not providing updates or it taking a year before they do update. -
@Stuxnet Well, Android is a shitty OS to begin with. Unfortunately, there is no alternative. (iOS is cool, polished and stable, but a bit too restrictive for me).
And google being google : Why the fuck they activate by default the “Google Spyware (aka assistant)” in always listen mode each fucking update -
@irene how is pressing buttons on a touch screen that much different on ios to Android?
You're a smart dude, pretty sure you can figure ios out just as well as android -
@irene As if Android is “intuitive”. Fuck it, I’ll use HarmonyOS when available
-
@irene damn. To you. I see the same shit on all phone systems and certainly see a lot of toddlers doing it as well
-
@irene I’m 5 months into using Android (Lumia 950XL before) : I still didn’t find how to display batterie % in all time. (Well, I never looked more than 30 secs for it also). So intuitive? nop. Settings are a hot mess where things are not even in “right” categories.
Preinstalled crap I can’t remove. (No, I don’t need to root my phone) -
@M1sf3t Like 15 nerds on the internet doesn't represent the majority of Android users but aight
-
@M1sf3t I've noticed people in this community have shit taste it seems.
I mean damn look how popular nix is here. 🤮
Nah but like the average Android user probably likes it more and are more open to trying something than the closed minded people in this community. -
I really believe that people in this community need to find the difference between
"This is bad"
And
"I did not like it, i thought it was bad"
For a looooot of things. Adding the "i think.." would normally eliminate pointless arguments and would help pinpoint opinionated nerds with no life. -
rant1ng44625y@irene finally, someone says this
It really IS an unintuitive mess.
I mean, i think it's an unintuitive mess. But that is only my opinion -
I miss having a navbar that would hide itself when playing games or watching full-screen video. That was ideal. Then Android updated and I had to choose between always-visible navbar or gestures. I chose gestures and it took weeks to get used to it and I still sometimes do the wrong thing.
-
Fuck gestures and the shitty 3-buttons overlay.
Let me keep my hardware buttons and I'm happy. -
@RemyRm who the fuck scrolls at the bottom of a webpage? Seems to me like something a brain dead retarded withered flower would do if ya ask me. /s
@PrivateGER I've genuinely never heard someone want physical buttons but it honestly doesn't surprise me that this community likes them. Must be a shit ton of people that like to make their lives harder. /s -
The back gesture is much faster and easier than having to break your thumb and unergonimcally reach down to the very bottom of the device. A quick swipe from the side of the display (where your thumb naturally rests anyway) is just better. Don't @ me
-
@irene When holding a smartphone your thumb normally rests on the side of the device where the power button is, no? So you just have to move it about a centimeter to do the back gesture
-
@irene Okay, didn't read that part. Reaching the side of the display is still easier than the bottom of the device though when your thumb is in the middle of the display
-
@milkygreen It might just be how I hold my smartphone because it's extremely heavy and quite large
Who the fuck did they ask? Because that's horse shit
