The topic in itself isnt bad. I thinj its good to speak about it. There are different ways of implementing it which are more or less beneficial.
The thing i really dislike is the short cut to accusatory “privileges”. And the acceptance that there are differences, qualities,as well as shared common interests across social segments.
But all dialogue is good. And there are issues on this topic that have to be addressed, shared, acknowledged and debated. ;)
Just posting because i dont completely agree with the use of “boys” on your post, which seem to include the majority, if not all men, on the platform.
Ps: apparently talking politics is against the rules of devrant (only echoing content of an other post im not exactly sure. And i like speaking politics... I have to drink less coffeee i keep talking. Cheers! -
odite46895y@halfflat That would be a completely fine argument except for the fact that the organisation he's promoting is looking for equal representation between genders in all workplaces which just isn't possible when people have the freedom of choice.
-
@halfflat But the solution has been "fuck the white guy, the source of all ills now and ever". Sorry, more racism is not a solution.
-
Translation: White and Asian men shall directly or indirectly cash out for useless and incompetent cunts.
-
@Santaclauze Yeah anti-white and anti-Asian racism is strong with the Left, just as anti-male sexism. But unlike right-wing assholes (e.g. KKK), they are also bigots and deny their racism and sexism.
-
@odite and i agree with you on that. Positive discrimination should not be a thing. Not only is it patronizing: “ooohh poor little you, lets give you a hand because your obviously not competent enough to succeed” , but it fragilises real competition which is, not the only, but a very large factor to innovation.
Surely there are better ways to promote abilities and “i can do it” mentality. It always makes me think of Scarlett in Sc2 who against all odds not only beat all the guys ina tournament she did that when koreans were still way on top of the world. And that was freaking amazing!
What i mean there is that finally there was a role model for women and girls to look up and realize they could succeed in competitive gaming. -
Root826025y@halfflat Women do typically care more about people, and are usually also more lefty. So you're probably correct. But Bill has always been kind of out there, too, so she probably encourages it in him.
-
@halfflat i keep hearing “white men privilege” and getting shut down. Which sux.
I went to a boarding school for rich kids when i was in high school. Well you know what? Yes there were more white people but at least 25 to 30% of the school was not white and within that 25 to 30% were by far the richer people. And yes i mean arab, black and asian.
So white privilege does exist but its not pervasive to all social strata and especially not at higher ranks which is the place that creates decision making.
Just dont hold me aacountable for my privileges. Talk about it and lets realize together.... -
@Root Well they were coming from the Dems and opposed the Reps, but these terms had a completely different meaning back then.
-
@Root i agree with that. There is a natural differences amongst men and women and caring for people rather than things one of them. And by things i dont mean materialistically rather technologically or... Hum... Workaholic kind of profile.
-
Root826025y@Fast-Nop They really didn't. Read history and political commentary from back then.
@Stuxnet ikr 😅 One person switching sides does not constitute a reversal -
@Stuxnet Margaret Sanger was highly involved with the KKK. She founded PP. Part of PP's charter was to place clinics in primarily minority neighborhoods. The goal was to kill off the lesser races. That org is still supported by the left. If you want to take attention away from yourself you point the finger at someone else.
-
@Root I used to know exact what happened but i forgot. Used to love politics and history, but i got burnt out of it lol
-
@Demolishun there's a fuck ton of double standards and horse shit logic in modern politics.
A big reason why I quit being as involved. It'd piss me off and ruin my night pretty much every night. -
odite46895y@halfflat I disagree that only people on the left push for change. But then again, those more on the right than them may just label them as a lefty for doing so.
-
Root826025y@Stuxnet Same here.
I actively avoid it because it just infuriates me, and there's nothing I can do to improve it.
But when I go to work and hear racism every day, as well as political commentary that makes no bloody sense, I just can't escape it. But sure, cis white men are to blame. Let's just go with that because at least then my coworkers will kind of shut up about things. Afsksvaksgadfd. -
@Root I do not envy your experience. Where I live people are just people. It seems like we live in a very accepting pocket of the USA. I wave to all my neighbors and they wave back. Is it just hot spots in the USA where it is bad? I know back east is not great.
-
@Root i agree. We need to change things but leaning too much to an extreme becomes problematic and right now there are social experiments that are going to make some people very unhappy in their future.
-
@Root oh yea my co workers say stupid shit that u just brush off bc I'd rather not get into it anymore.
-
odite46895y@halfflat It's also economically stupid to raise taxes to pay for more government intervention. Which is what the left wants. Balance is necessary.
-
What a bunch of crocks of shit.
There is equity no law prevents equality... and there is laws preventing gender inequality... if you think your employer is discriminating against your gender then take it to a lawyer!! God damn... enough with this bullshit!
I’m sure 100 years ago if you were on the fucken titanic you wouldn’t be screaming gender equality as the men had to stay behind and allow women and children to have the chance of surviving...... that sure in fuck isn’t gender equality!
Always bitching for more more more -
mksana2465yStaying within the confines of our profession, wasn't there a PHP conference in ... i believe it was in Poland which made headlines recently because somebody complained about the lack of female representation in the speakers, and the organizers were like "Yeah, we only hade one female who applied to do a talk. And it just wasn't good enough." but people still kept explaining so they ended things with just canning the entire conference for good - not only this year. How does this make any sense?
There'll never be equality in the sense of a 50:50 distribution in many sectors, IT being amongst them. The activities in that sector are just more appealing to men. Why fret about it? -
@Demolishun I live in north west Michigan, we don’t have an issue here, everyone is just people, we don’t treat them differently... pay grades are based on experience...it’s people on the left, in the big cities that are bitching... either they are bitching because they don’t realize they don’t have enough experience and expect the same pay as the highest paid male in the industry regardless of experience idk..
But if they want to form or join a union and get paid the same (low wages in retrospect) as everyone else in the union regardless of experience then do it... there is nothing stopping them from joining or forming a union...
Regardless pay in our industry is based on experience... not gender or race.. if you have the same experience as another person of another gender or race then you will definitely be paid the same there is no reason not pay them that..
Idk where they get this bullshit from...
Race inequality was solved by the government in forms of laws and amendments decades ago.. anyone who doesn’t comply, and they (the left) can prove it.. take them to court they (the left) will for sure win -
Hazarth95125yBut does he agree that men and women are biologically different and thus there will never be gender equality. Yes, they should both get paid the same for the same work done and have the same opportunities. But a lot of lefties call for gender equity instead which is a ridiculous notion. They just call it equality anyway, so I hope Bob isn't that kind of a person. As long as we're talking about equality of opportunity, then Im in support.
-
vane112805y@Hazarth So how exactly would you define “same work” because that’s most bullshit I am hearing all the time.
You do it by allowing them to duplicate their work and that’s waste of time and still they can finish it in different peace and pick different methods that can be beneficial or not. So who will decide ? God, fairy or some another prophet ?
For me whole conception of job position is itself discrimination because you can hire junior who is senior and senior who is not even a junior, people who hire other people make subjective decisions and they are not fucking GODS they’re just miserable meat sacks that make mistakes. Isn’t HR person decision who don’t even know what the fuck multithreaded application is some form of discrimination and ignorance of employee ?
What I see is that someone with money and power is trying to fuck up in people’s minds for their own pleasure. Due to mass trust in technology people become more willing to believe in any shit small device is SELLING to them using profiled advertising, that’s the fucking truth. -
Hazarth95125y@vane oh wew, you dropped some epic truths here my man. I agree with you tho since we also agree that employment is inherently unfair the only definition of "same work" can be in the relation of hours worked and peer review. If someone repeatedly complains of another of being incompetent or slow, it should reflect on pay whether its a women or a man, no exceptions. On the other hand if someone is being praised and talked highly of a lot that should also be reflected... In the end its impossible to objecticely quantify how much work has someone done, you can only get a fuzzy reading on it. But for me gender equality means that you wont treat someone differently in relation to their performance, based on gender. And that's not possible in a country where social pressure is put on companies to prefer one over the other!
-
vane112805y@Hazarth that’s not companies fault but people’s fault and their decisions are the real cause.
Company is a mirage where evil hides or not. Send mail to all@company and nobody cares. Send personal email and person care if is not ignorant like me.
Don’t hide the evil behind company, because it’s first mistake that people are doing. Company don’t have personality, company is nothing without people behind it.
Discrimination is driven by people, period. Find those people tell them what they’re doing wrong and you will solve problem. No press no shouting no pointless arguments, find people and tell them, once, twice, multiple times and if it won’t help fire them.
But that would require some good independent work nobody is willing to do cause they need to judge other people and usually those who commit discrimination are the ones who judge so we shout on company A or B tell something and the person who do evil just don’t care and do it again and again and again and nothing is changed. -
nitnip18145y1) It's PR.
2) I wouldn't be surprised if someone else wrote that.
3) It's just a 'feel-good' message. Noise. Like Wallmart saying they care about the environment. -
@Santaclauze I can't fucking stand it when someone 'demonizes' me by mentioning that I'm a white male and that that has advantages.
Especially since its not a choice I could make and also because they don't know me. I seriously don't feel extra privileged at all with the amount of issues that I have.
Well, boys. They got him.
