That's because the Gnome fucktard devs think their stuff shouldn't be modified and is best out of the box.
-
@Fast-Nop Yeah, because I run Linux because I want stuck stuff that I don't have to change or customize

@ScriptCoded The whole concept of user-friendliness in Gnome shows that the Gnome devs hav no understanding of usability.
They think removing options makes it more user-friendly because that's what Apple does. But what Apple ALSO does (or: did) is ensuring smooth workflows, and that's the hard part of simplicity.
Without that part, you get a fucked up UI that the user can't even do anything about. -
athlon172465y@Fast-Nop @ScriptCoded The real problem with GNOME is the fact that, in order to use it, you have to fix it yourself first:
- lack of the desktop icons - seriously, just because you don't use something that often nowadays, doesn't mean nobody uses it. It's like Toyota removing reverse gear from it's car, because you just use it sometimes. There's an extension for that (which frankly sucks)
- Alt+Tab .15 second lag - again, why? Who goes and says "yes, my computer needs an artificial lag". There's an extension which removes that.
- default volume mixer doesn't allow you to change individual app sound - there's an extension for that
- no top icons - it's especially annoying when you use Wine programs
- annoyances like "window is ready" notification - there's an extension for it
- you can't manage app folders in app grid without extension -
athlon172465y@Fast-Nop I feel like Cinnamon is much better in that regard. It has desktop icons, no stupid alt+tab lag, it puts taskbar icons (you know, like these ones Steam has on Windows right next to clock, I don't know how they're actually called), no stupid "window is ready" notification, and you can actually manage the app list without any third-party tool! I don't know about volume mixer tho.
That said, I don't use Cinnamon daily, it's only on my dad's laptop.
