@cursee they aren't meant to replace dogs though. I mean, yes Spot is a dog name and it looks and behaves somewhat like a dog, but that's about it.

Pretty sure the dog-like look is for sound robotics reasons (quadrupedal locomotion is pretty good for rough terrain for eg.) and not because someone thought "let's make a robot dog to replace actual dogs".

Kinda like how humanoid robots aren't really aimed at replacing humans (unless they're *explicitly* designed to look and behave human, like the Geminoids)
