So a client is apparently ignoring my request for payment to continue the hosting services for their blog ( which has been inactive for a long time ).

Thinking of getting rid of the client. I wouldn't mind if they voluntarily left because they don't want to pay, but now it's like i have to force them out.

This is going to be a rope walk. I wouldn't want their few hundred followers coming after me.

Any tips?

    Put up a mesage asking for donations else the blog will go down. Let the followers take the blog destiny in their own hands. If the costs are not covered its their fault ;)

    @Santaclauze Sounds a bit extreme. Maybe I'll inform that I'll add a message will to their site for public to see with a countdown before the blog is taken offline.

    Or you could start a conspiracy theory ;)

    @theKarlisK I even let them know I can help set it up properly if they need help. However, they haven't responded to that.

    It's weird. If they are honest, they just need to take a decision and let me know.

    Feels like they are baiting me, probably to stir up drama or see how long they can keep me on the hook.

    The blog has been inactive for a very long time and yet they have hundreds of followers that will come after you if the blog goes down?

    I'd send the client an ultimatum: if they don't pay before a certain date, the hosting service will be cancelled. Then you put up a parking page saying that the hosting service was cancelled for failure to fulfill payment. You've already gave the client plenty of opportunity to keep the service running, right?

    @theKarlisK only this ↑

    It's their blog, so just going ahead and changing something is unprofessional at least. If they don't pay for hosting, inform them that the page will be taken down at a date x and then do so on or anytime after the specified date.

    If they wanted to run it on donations that's their own business. They can collect the money and then pay you.

    @ethernetzero They are more active on YouTube with few thousand subscribers. One video rant on me could be catastrophic for me.

    @theKarlisK I'm gonna send a message saying that I take their silence as lack of interest in continuing the service and give a grace period of 7 days.

    @ultimaterage Perfect!

    @HoloDreamer Man, and you think they'd be so shitty as to make you look like the bad guy for not hosting them for free? What a bunch of douchebags, in that case.

    You'll do the right thing, give them a grace period and then send the blog to oblivion. And make it very clear that they've ignored all your payment reminders if for some reason they come after you.
