I work mainly with Java AND JavaScript (separately).
I hate it when people think I mistake them in a conversation.
Makes me think they are treating me like a fool or a noob.
I really hate it.

Ohhhhh yes, when someone belittles you. I absouletely fucking hate it. It's probably a bad character trait to have but my knowledge is the only thing I can be proud about.

As @kescherRant noted, use "ECMAScript".

I'm sure you even can find people that genuinely perceive JS as Java's spin-off solely on name's basis, but that's a sin.
I myself cannot get used to call it "ES" and such, but I'm sure it's worth it to reduce the confussion between two completely different languages.

Ah. That sounds more like they don't know programming at all and are just confused. At any rate I wouldn't take it as them belittling you. Unless there's more context than that.

@jdebs This case's person had a Discord server and made her own bot, I think she did belittle me maybe just because I'm from a third latin country or whatever.
If I doubted about something like that, I wouldn't ask and just wait for disambiguation.

Lets just call it Java and JesusScript and be done with it.

We could just force all Java devs to use Kotlin, and all JS devs to use Typescript.

The world would be a better place.
