Pet peeve #3984 - when managers / salespeople anyone else pretends it's just appropriate to "add up" years of experience.

"I'm sure we can solve this, the team have over 100 years of coding experience between them"

...yeah, that's not how experience works, doofus. Unless you'd really trust 20 people with 6 month's experience over a single person with 10 year's experience.

Surely you aren't suggesting that skills don't age like fine cheese? That sitting on the shelf unused and forgotten doesn't increase their value exponentially 😋

Offer him to have a brain surgery performed by a team of 12 surgeons which total in 2 years experience.

@SortOfTested Not at all, I'm very... unconvinced by the whole "X years experience in blah" thing generally. But this takes it to a whole new level...

The expression for that is "9 women can't make a baby in a month"

@SortOfTested There are other issues too, for example just because someone has 6 years total experience in pregnancy doesn't mean they have better odds for a healthy child. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Hey, just because John came out a little lopsided doesn't mean I love him any less.
