I think it's a very important place/concept, it alows for small teams/single people that aren't companies get funding for sometimes genius ideas without selling them
-
Bubbles68264y@SoldierOfCode yeah, I feel like it’s usually a good alternative for side cash and receiving support
-
@Bubbles it also give a pretty good idea on two very important factor, how many people want it(amount of donations), and how *much* people want it(avarage donation amount)
Which no other form of funding can give you with such accuracy. -
Bubbles68264y@SoldierOfCode yeah that’s a good point, with that knowledge you could build more confidence over time
-
I have one.
3$ a month currently, will probably go to 13$ by next month if everything goes as expected.
I only dislike the fee they take, other than that, no complaints. -
@Bubbles Yeah, the Patreon is for a Discord Bot that's currently in 38k servers.
-
Bubbles68264y@PrivateGER holy shit good job, if you don’t mind me asking.. what is the bot you developed?
-
@Bubbles Essentially, it's an anime art searching bot, but focused on sites like r34 and stuff. You know what I mean.
I originally only intended it for a personal server and and it suddenly blew up after I added it to a list. -
Bubbles68264y@PrivateGER oh damn that’s cool. Ive made one but I wanted to rewrite it/maybe make it public if anyone wanted to try it in other servers I’m in.
Do you host it somewhere? -
@Nanos It depends entirely what plan you choose on Patreon, the cut they take frok me is 8% fixed for the "Pro" default plan.
Payment processing fees are 5% + 0.10$ for anything below 3$, everything above is 2.9% + 0.30$.
VAT and other stuff is simply slapped onto the bill of the supporter and not covered by the page owner.
Whats your take on Patreon (and services like it), have you ever considered one or been told to make one?
personally I think its cool that if you have a game community that wants to support you or just people that like your work in general that can support you a little for your work. and Ive been told I should make one but I dont see the point for my own case personally.
Im only asking on here cause I just want more opinions from other Developers
