My first rant. My very "african" dad just told me coding is for people who want an excuse to sit in front of a computer all day. An excuse for laziness.

He's right tho. Physically, it's lazy.
Mentally... That's a whole other story.

If he's working outside (agriculture, construction work, etc.), tell him "it's an excuse for people who want to spend time outdoor/tan".

@Alice 🤔 but nobody said laziness is good for body. Like, I see your point, it is actually not good to sit down 9 hours straight (even more in case of devs) but it is still technically considered physical laziness, since you don't use most of your muscles.

Not everyone is up for the mental challenge. As for exercise, that is what walking and gyms are for. This idea that one lifestyle of work is somehow ethically superior is trash talk. I hear people condescend to farmers and it pisses me off. The opposite is also toxic as hell.

@F1973 perhaps alice is in that phase where, you can take alice out of devrant but you cannot take devrant out of alice. She just doesn't want to accept it 😂.
