    So, I'm guessing no Android for you then? O.o

    JetBrains products are all java...you want to be blaming the language not the products made with it.

    @nblackburn (other way around)
  • 0
    @nocgod not sure i follow
  • 1
    @nblackburn If you wanted to say that good software can be made in Java (and I guess that was your intention when talking about JetBrains software) than you should have said blame the Software(developer) not the language it's made in but you said it the other way around
  • 0
    @ElCapitan I am not sure I agree, the intent was blame Java (the language) not the everything created with it.

    @nblackburn great software could be written in any language, it depends on the developers mainly...

    P.S: I don't like Java
  • 0
    @nocgod That is largely my point
  • 0
    @nblackburn so what I mean is: he should blame the shitty developers, not the shitty language...
  • 0
    @nocgod I mean the language do that's where the confusion fusion lies
  • 1
    @ZaLiTHkA Android yes, not impressed with most 3rd party apps though.

    @nblackburn I used to use Webstorm, I spent more time debugging it than my code. Not saying you can't built a nice app on Java, I'm saying I haven't seen it done.
  • 1
    @nocgod if you pick a language that's the metaphorical equivalent to a 3 legged dog you are at a disadvantage before you even start writing your app. There is only so much a developer can do to compensate.

    @blackmarket It's a shame you had an experience like that.

    JetBrains products are usually pretty reliable but still suffer from being built on Java.
  • 1
    @blackmarket I think every language has it's purpose... I strongly agree that some people pick the wrong language for the thing they want to do but then again... Not the fault of the language
  • 1
    @ElCapitan is there a purpose to brain fuck besides being convoluted? To a certain extent I agree but I think you have to draw a line somewhere. At what point is a language more pain than good?

    Well most of the largest companies back end is created with Java. You might move away from Internet slowly then. And yes, Android.

    I use visual studio every day and Jetbrain IDE is simply more superior than VS.

    So tired of this Java and Windows hate posts.

    @tahnik I think a lot of the reason for that is because that is what university's use to teach programming.

    Look at the source code of the OkHttp library and see how well written Java code can be

    @blackmarket "While it [Brainfuck] is fully Turing complete, it is not intended for practical use, but to challenge and amuse programmers." I agree with you, you have to draw a line somewhere but I thought it should be self explanatory that I am talking about languages who are intended to be "commercially used" and not about some types of fun languages with the purpose to have something entertaining or special about them.

    @ElCapitan perhaps brain fuck is an exaggerated example. For me Java and it's ridiculous VM are on the wrong side of the line. I have only once thought that Java was the right tool for the job but never again.
