I got tired of the redundancy of giving instructions to my parents on how to use our DVR, so I wrote the instructions on a white board. Appliance manufacturers kept coming up with upgrades; I wrote more instructions. After 4 years of computer science courses, lots of books, and hours googling, I was able to create instructions for my personal gadgets and my clients' machines.
