I honestly find, I am the opposite since the business team can see the commits on slack.

I've gotten into a really bad habit of postponing commits on personal projects, so at times weeks will go by and then I'll realize "hmm, I should probably commit what I worked on before... wtf did I do since last comment... ah fuck it, I'll go with 'changes pre-5/19/16' "
