Dude, you could make BIG money if you made one that works and sold it to Hypixel.
-
@Linux Nah, Hypixel is actively working on optimizing the MC server source. 2B2T too. Performance dies once more than 200 players are on the same server.
-
Bubbles66124y@PrivateGER they already have one, they work extensively with Mojang to develop their server
-
@Bubbles Yeah, but it's clearly not powerful enough yet, seeing that they still don't use 100+ player servers.
-
The Minecraft community seems still to be willing to pay for game hosting. So why not build yet another startup around it.
And if you are the only one offering a service providing a stable mod-capable minecraft server wich allows for hundreds of players in the same world at the same time, you might be able to completely own that market.
But getting there might prove to be hard and the market also is extremely price sensitive.
So while not being the worst startup idea, it probably is one of the more risky ones... -
Bubbles66124y@Oktokolo it’s also just the fact that keeping it up to date would be awful, I just wish Mojang would do it themselves
-
Bubbles66124y@Linux yeah you aren’t wrong in the slightest, but I’d be okay with sacrificing years without content updates if it means it’s multithreaded servers lmfao
-
@Bubbles
It wouldn't really need to keep up with the original's update cycle.
While you can mod in new content and quests, you can't mod in lagfree stability with hundreds of concurrent users.
So at the end, the community would backport all the features they want to _your_ version because it is impossible for them to upport your unique selling point to the original. -
Bubbles66124y@Oktokolo while that’s true I’m not a big fan of modding I’d rather just play vanilla
-
@Bubbles
Imagine a mod adding the support for hundreds of concurrent users without lag being technically possible.
Would you really prefer not using it just because it isn't vanilla? -
Bubbles66124y@Oktokolo oh you mean performance enhancing mods, I thought you were referring to mods that add stuff to the game I’m okay with stuff like optifine but I don’t really mod games at all
-
@Bubbles
But would you use mods for adding vanilla stuff to a feature-frozen but extremely performance-enhanced version?
