does anyone else feel awkward when getting thanked for just doing their damn job?

that's what you're paying me for and that's what you should expect me to do

Whenever that happens, someone else probably isn't doing theirs. Be a gracious employee and say you're welcome.

Don't take it for granted; appreciate it. Most people don't show gratitude. Don't take the kindness for weakness or frown upon it, smile, nod your head, and say no problem or just walk away. Appreciate being appreciated.

We had a Jr dev that took it too graciously.

"you're so very welcome. My pleasure. Anything else I can do for you. "

At least you get thanked. All I do is get yelled at for doing mine.

Big difference from doing your job, and doing your job well.

I say "You are welcome " whenever I deliver something even if they don't thank me.

@champion01 and big difference between a boss who knows when you do your job well and is clueless that you are.
