Does master degree really matter or if I take some courses will be better if I'll not go through academic life

Masters degree mostly matters if you're trying to locally upgrade a foreign degree.

Otherwise, not really. It's a prereq for a doctoral program

@SortOfTested it's not a prereq for a doctoral program, most places let you get a masters en route and you can join after undergrad. I guess it sort of is if you look at the en route thing as two separate things, but eh.

Here it's a prereq. You don't get one without having the other. It used to be that way, but the US loves money.

Well at least my uni does it this way. I think others do too. I know a fair number of people who went for doctoral studies after undergrad.

It's definitely unusual for sciences. While helping my son plan, we saw basically 2 models, joint masters/phd and advanced program completion required.

@SortOfTested I think I'm talking about the joint program. It's usually treated differently from a regular masters which is much more course heavy,which is why I made the distinction.

Depending on where you live and what job you want, you may not get a job without relevant degree. You'll have to figure that out for your country and tech domain.

For academic career, I would say yes

In IT career you definitelly don't need it.

BUT!
If you want to move forward as a person in whole, it is really useful. You will meet many new people, learn things you would never ever touch on your own and it will be valuable life lesson.

It depends on where you are, some places values degrees highly otherwise its also a good learning experience
