Young dev here, stuck fixing family's computers non-stop for at least 3 more years. Telling them "install gentoo" is always an option if you're very fed-up that day. Be careful though, it may come back to bite you in the ass.

If only people learned to google their problems, they wouldn't need people like us to fix their computers.
